The 2011-2012 school year at the Evergreen Chinese School starts from August 19, 2011 and ends on June 1, 2012. The class ID of every class increases by 1 at the end of the school year. For example, Grade 1 class becomes Grade 2, EC1 becomes EC2.

How to select Chinese class to register

From year 2011-2012, the class code ECx (stands for English Chinese classes) is changed to CSLx (Chinese as Second Language), where "x" indicates the grade level of the class.

Both the Heritage Chinese class (HCN) and the CSL classes are provided on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, contingent on the number of students registered to the class.

The Friday classes are between 7:00-9:00PM on the Chaboya Middle School campus. Saturday and Sunday classes are between 9:00AM and 6:00PM at the Achieve Learning Center. The detailed schedule will be determined based on actual registration.

The HCN classes, most students from Chinese-speaking family, have classes from Kindergarten through 9th grade.

The CSL classes, the one utilizes more English in teaching, with most students from non-Chinese-speaking families, have classes for Chinese grade level of 1, 2, 3 and 4, called CSL1, CSL2, CSL3 and CSL4.

  • Chinese Language Class

Evergreen Chinese School has been providing Chinese language classes since 2002. It is the only major Chinese School in the Evergreen area. It has been a reputable institute in the US and is also recognized internationally. The school currently has classes from Kindergarten to 8th grade totaling 12 class units. The classes are meeting on Friday evening and Saturday morning at the Evergreen Valley High School campus and at the Achieve Learning Center, 4075 Evergreen Village Square, San Jose, CA 95135.

We teach Chinese in Mandarin pronunciation, simplified characters writing, introduce corresponding traditional characters as well when they are different than the simplified ones.

There are two types of Chinese classes. The normal class assumes that the students are from Chinese-Speaking family environment and the teaching language in class is Chinese. While the the EC class assumes that the students are from non-Chinese-speaking family environment and the teacher will use, mainly, English for explanation.
